Traditional Dental Implants
By Houston Implant Dentist, Dr. Wayne Brueggen
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to rid yourself of your partial or denture, you owe it to yourself to learn more about dental implants. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that replaces the original tooth root that may have been damaged or lost to various dental conditions. With modern implant technology almost anyone who is missing a tooth/teeth or is wearing removable teeth (dentures) is a candidate for dental implants.
Dr. Brueggen is a highly respected expert in both the placement and restoration of dental implants from a single missing tooth to the entire upper and lower arch. His background in dental implant dentistry and cosmetic dentistry ensures medically safe and aesthetically beautiful results.

The Traditional Dental Implant Process
Dr. Brueggen and his team are skilled with all types of dental implant procedures. With traditional dental implants, the implant is surgically placed into the bone using local anesthesia. After the implant has healed (usually 6 months), the post will be attached to the implant to support the tooth. Dr. Brueggen will then take impressions and create a prosthesis (crown) that will attach to the implant.
The Traditional Dental Implant Candidate
Candidates for traditional dental implants are for those who are missing one tooth to a few teeth and, like most medical procedures, should be in good health. However, we find that we are able to help almost everyone, even those who have been told in other offices that implants won’t work.
